Village
Location: Equator Village offers its guests a new and exciting
experience of The Maldives. If a fresh look at this beautiful
country is what you want, then this is the place for you.
Located just half a degree below the equator, the lush,
tree-filled island of Gan was used by the British as an
air force and naval outpost from 1956 to 1976. The handsome
building which now houses the reception, bar and restaurant
was originally an officers club and the large guest rooms
were once accommodation to high-ranking officers.
Accommodation: Rooms are arranged among mature bougainvillea
trees, hibiscus and even rose bushes. Set in carefully tended
gardens is an attractive, free-sized swimming pool. Other
out-of-water sport facilities include an excellent tennis
court, antique snooker table squash, indoor games, volleyball,
table tennis and bicycle hire free to hotel guests. There
are three other islands beyond Gan you can visit and these
bikes make them fun to explore.
Facilities: Award-winning Banyan Tree Spa, the signature
Banyan Tree Gallery and a health club.
Sports & Leisure: Water sports facilities, volleyball,
table tennis, snooker and badminton; TV room, reading area
and board games; Health Club and excursions.
